CSET is looking for an organized and motivated individual to work within its Weatherization Program. Qualified candidates must be team-oriented have the ability to provide on-the-job training to participants and perform a variety of activities to weatherize homes and make them more energy efficient. Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must! Minimum of 1-year experience in home weatherization home repair and or construction or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Weatherization Coordinator the Weatherization Project Assistant supports the Weatherization Project Supervisor and field team in the installation of basic weatherization measures and minor home repairs that reduce energy consumption and improve health and safety for low-income households throughout Tulare County.
The Project Assistant works alongside the Project Supervisor to learn and apply standard weatherization techniques model safe work habits and help mentor Sequoia Community Corpsmembers in field operations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Learns and assists in installing basic weatherization measures such as caulking weather stripping insulation lighting smoke and CO alarms thermostats and water-saving devices under the guidance of the Project Supervisor.
- Assists with job site preparation organization and clean-up including loading and unloading trucks setting up tools and materials and removing debris safely.
- Follows instructions from the Project Supervisor and Weatherization Coordinator to ensure tasks are completed safely efficiently and to quality standards.
- Learns proper use and care of hand tools power tools and safety equipment used in weatherization work.
- Observes and practices safety procedures at all times; promptly reports unsafe conditions injuries or equipment issues to a supervisor.
- Helps maintain inventory of materials and tools ensuring equipment is cleaned organized and returned to its proper location after use.
- Participates in required training sessions to develop knowledge of weatherization techniques energy conservation and workplace safety.
- Assists other team members and supports crew activities as assigned to complete daily work schedules.
- Maintains a professional and respectful attitude when interacting with staff Corpsmembers and clients.
- Performs other related duties as assigned that support the goals of the Energy Services Department and CSETs mission.
SPECIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills in weatherization and basic construction.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions accurately.
- Demonstrates teamwork reliability and strong work ethic.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and safe tool-handling ability preferred.
- Communicates effectively with staff Corpsmembers and clients.
- Must represent CSET in a professional courteous and respectful manner.
- Experience in home weatherization home repair and or construction or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in using hand and electrical tools.
- Must have reliable transportation and maintain a valid California drivers license with acceptable driving record.
WORK CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described here are required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Frequent standing walking bending lifting and climbing.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
- Regular exposure to indoor/outdoor environments temperature changes dust and moderate noise levels.
- Must follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
