Description
Description of Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Weight Control Engineer with experience in floating offshore facilities to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the weight control program throughout all project phases from concept through fabrication and installation ensuring the structures stability strength and performance requirements are met.
- Develop and implement project weight control procedures standards and reporting formats
- Collect verify and consolidate weight and center of gravity (CoG) data from all engineering disciplines and vendors
- Track and report weight trends growth margins and CoG movements throughout the design and fabrication phases
- Interface closely with project team to ensure compliance with stability and motion performance criteria
- Provide regular weight control reports and presentations to project management and clients
- Evaluate the impact of design changes vendor updates and field modifications on total weight and CoG
- Support weight reconciliation and as-built surveys at fabrication and integration sites
- Participate in design reviews model reviews and risk assessments related to weight and stability
- Effectively communicates and Interfaces with other disciplines clients contractor and suppliers (s) as it relates to weight
- Contribute to continuous improvement of weight control methodologies tools and databases
Qualifications
Qualifications / Skills:
- Strong understanding of ship or floating facility weight control practices estimation methods and stability principles
- Highly organized and proactive with strong leadership teamwork and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible and capable of working under pressure with a positive solution-oriented attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
- Proven ability to analyze technical data prepare clear reports and present findings effectively
Software:
- Advanced MS Office skills (Word Excel PowerPoint) preferred
- Microsoft Project
- Familiarity with engineering or weight management software tools
Education / Experience Level:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Naval Architecture Marine Engineering or related discipline required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in weight control engineering or a closely related functional area
Amount of Travel:
- Some travel to site locations may be required
