Job Description
The Facilities Management Department at Elizabethtown College is currently seeking a Mechanical Trades Technician . The primary purpose of this position is to provide safe comfortable and efficient maintenance and operation of the Carpentry Painting Heating Ventilating and Air-Conditioning ( HVAC ) plumbing and electrical systems throughout Elizabethtown College. *Mechanical Trades Technicians are periodically required to be on call (24/7) to respond to calls for service Why work at Elizabethtown College For the PERKS ! Physical Demands
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to walk about & stand for long periods of time Regularly required to maintain balance while walking standing crouching or running Regularly required to reach up and out with hands and arms Regularly required to talk and hear; verbally express information or instructions Regularly required to use hands to grasp objects type pick up objects move objects or hold objects Regularly required to stoop kneel crouch and/or crawl Regularly required to climb stairs and/or ladders Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry a distance of 10 feet Occasionally required to push and/or pull up to 100 pounds a distance of 10 feet VISION REQUIREMENTS To successfully perform this position individuals must possess the following: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships Adjustable focus Ability to distinguish colors (to recognize wiring codes) WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The individual is regularly exposed to indoor conditions outdoor weather and temperature extremes. The individual is occasionally exposed to extreme noise level and chemicals fumes dust or work safety hazards.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of four years experience in mechanical plumbing heating electrical or related technical area; or equivalent combination of education and experience This position requires a valid drivers license for business travel purposes and to drive campus vehicles (individual must have a US drivers license for at least three years).
