Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) in Long Term Care provides professional compassionate and patient-centered nursing care for residents across various age groups. This role involves coordinating and implementing nursing procedures leading a team of CNAs LPNs and support staff and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of resident care.
RNs are accountable for clinical decisions during their scheduled shifts and are expected to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies. This position requires strong leadership communication and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities -
Deliver safe therapeutic and efficient nursing care using proper infection control measures.

Assess and document resident conditions formulate care plans and update progress regularly.

Administer medications and treatments accurately according to established protocols.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate resident care.

Provide patient and family education counseling and emotional support.
-
Lead and supervise nursing staff ensuring proper delegation and adherence to standards.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives policy development and staff education.

Maintain confidentiality and comply with all facility state and federal regulations.

Serve as Charge Nurse in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Education & Certification Requirements -
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN BSN or Diploma).

Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or eligibility to obtain before start date.
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association required).
-
Clinical and High-Risk Competency assessments required within 3 months of hire.
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Knowledge Skills & Abilities -
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.

In-depth understanding of nursing care standards documentation and resident safety.

Ability to recognize and respond promptly to adverse symptoms and emergencies.
-
Excellent leadership and team collaboration skills.
-
Effective oral and written communication.
-
Proficient in use of electronic health records (EHR).
Physical Requirements -
Regularly required to talk hear stand walk and use hands to handle or feel.

Occasionally required to climb balance kneel or crouch.
-
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
