Position Overview: The Senior Manager - Project Manager for Substation Projects will be
responsible for overseeing the planning execution and completion of EHV Substation
projects. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are executed on time within budget
and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires strong leadership skills the ability
to manage multiple stakeholders and a deep understanding of the technical aspects of
substation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Execution:
o Develop and execute project plans in line with the project bar chart.
o Ensure that project activities are aligned with revenue and collection targets.
2. Stakeholder Management:
o Liaise and manage relationships with clients government officials and other
internal and external stakeholders.
o Coordinate with the state forest department revenue and private entities for
land clearance.
3. Logistics & Material Management:
o Oversee logistics and material management to ensure the timely delivery of
project resources.
4. Inter-departmental Coordination:
o Manage inter-departmental movement and ensure work is completed as per the
execution plan.
o Coordinate with authorities to obtain necessary approvals for project-related
documents.
5. Team Development:
o Build and develop a team of efficient managers and engineers to ensure
successful project execution without time and cost overruns.
6. Project Oversight:
o Oversee engineering quality control budgeting management information
systems and project coordination.
o Provide advice and support for the timely completion of projects.
7. Planning Scheduling & Monitoring:
o Develop and implement efficient planning scheduling and monitoring
systems for projects under execution.
o Apply advanced planning/scheduling techniques and manage costs and risks
effectively.
8. Commercial Evaluation:
o Evaluate commercial proposals related to site activities and ensure their
alignment with project goals.
9. Technical Expertise:
o Maintain working knowledge of electrical utility systems engineering
standards policies and procedures.
o Draft and negotiate EPC project services proposals.
10. Strategic Planning & Studies:
o Lead strategic planning pre-feasibility studies opportunity assessments and
technology evaluations.
o Conduct market studies resource planning and manage technology transfer.
11. Policy Implementation:
o Implement and assist in the development review and maintenance of EPC
policies.
o Ensure the implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and
Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) at project sites.
12. Reporting:
o Provide regular updates to top management including reporting on project
progress and any potential hurdles.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering or a
related field.
Extensive experience in project management particularly in substation or renewable
energy projects.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies including risk
management cost control and scheduling.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder
management.
Proven leadership ability in developing and managing a team.
Working knowledge of electrical utility systems policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Experience with large-scale EPC projects.
Familiarity with QMS and OHSAS standards.
