Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse LPN

Candidates will need to attend an full two week orientation working Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm
Candidate may be required to work 16 hr shift as needed
WORK ENVIORNMENT:
The North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a maximum security all male forensic mental health facility located in Gainesville Florida. It has a current capacity of 193 residents.
TYPE OF PATIENTS:
The average age of our residents is early 30s. The goal is to get those committed as Incompetent to Proceed to Trial (78%) back to their committing courts for disposition of their charges and those committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (22%) to a less restrictive environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
* Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
* One year of nursing experience strongly preferred.
* Must be CPR certified or able to complete training.
* Must be able to complete full orientation at time of hire.
* Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of position including ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. remain alert while on duty and work 16-hour shifts on occasion.
CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assess resident complaints and determine action notifying supervisor when necessary.
* Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.
* Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy and within their scope of practice as defined by Florida law.
* Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to assigned supervisor or further assessment and treatment.
* Prepare paperwork as required for consults within facility and outside appointments.
* Coordinate residents appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed as need for resident movement to and from the unit.
* Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined by facility and Florida law and notifying supervisor for further assistance.
* Complete incident reports factually and objectively within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
* Complete progress notes on resident care within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
* Advocate for residents recovery and safety.
* Maintain appropriate and professional behavior during interactions with residents supervisors and other staff members.
* Display professionalism throughout employment including but not limited to arriving to work on time maintaining an accurate timesheet and maintaining professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
