We are delighted to present a lovely opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Cook to join a welcoming family based in Brighton and Hove East Sussex. The family who have three children aged 13 16 and 19 are seeking a reliable and skilled professional to prepare wholesome dinners six days a week. Brighton and Hove a beautiful coastal city known for its vibrant atmosphere seaside promenade and artistic flair offers an excellent work-life balance and is easily accessible by public transport.

Working as a private Cook in this family home the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing daily evening meals ensuring that the kitchen remains clean and well-organised. The family enjoys a variety of cuisines with a particular preference for Indian dishes three days a week while other days feature British and international meals such as pasta or shepherds pie. The principals are happy to provide recipes and guidance on Indian cuisine and are open to the cook learning and expanding their skills in this area.

Working Days: Monday to Saturday
Working Hours: Two hours a day late afternoon (to prepare dinner)

Main duties of the Part-Time Cook:

• Preparing daily dinners for the family including Indian meals three times a week and British or international dishes on the remaining days.
  
• Maintaining a clean tidy and hygienic kitchen environment.
  
• Managing basic food preparation including chopping vegetables and organising ingredients.
  
• Following provided recipes and showing willingness to learn and develop Indian cooking skills.
  
• Occasionally assisting the lady of the house in planning and preparation of meals.
  
• Ensuring all meals are fresh balanced and varied.
  
• Adhering to household preferences and maintaining discretion at all times.
  
• Housekeeping duties may be added at a later stage with an increase in working hours.
  
• Driving and owning a car is beneficial but not essential.
  
• Knowledge or willingness to learn Indian vegetarian and meat-based dishes is a strong advantage.
  

Requirements for this Part-Time Cook job:

• Three or more years of private cook experience
  
• Two excellent checkable references
  
• Conversational English
  
• UK working permit
  
• Self-employed status
