Job Summary

Assistant Professor of English Medieval/Early Modern

The Department of English at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Medieval/Early Modern English Literature to begin Fall area of research should focus on the literature and languages of the British Isles pre-1450. Willingness to collaborate with faculty in archaeology and art history preferred. Ability to teach History of the English language and/or surveys of world literature preferred. Ph.D. in English with a specialty in Medieval or Early Modern English Literature required by August 2026.

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching four courses per semester including upper-level and graduate courses in Middle English and Early Modern Literature as well as speech composition and literature surveys according to department practice and policy. The successful candidate will also be required to conduct scholarly research sufficient for tenure and advancement as well as engage in appropriate service.

Salary contingent upon qualifications experience and needs of university.
