The Facility Maintenance Technician keeps our buildings grounds and critical systems safe compliant and reliable. This role performs inspections preventive maintenance and hands-on repairs across multiple sites (Napanee two Ottawa facilities) and one trailer (Moose Creek). You will handle multi-trade tasks (mechanical electrical plumbing HVAC carpentry) and coordinate vendors when required while maintaining tight documentation for compliance and audits.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs repairs in accordance with Company Safety and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements
- Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PM); diagnose repair and rebuild major equipment/components
- Plan and achieve maintenance goals and objectives
- Develop and maintain files such as equipment lists suppliers list operating maintenance manuals purchase orders drawings checklists spare parts lists corrective maintenance details maintenance history
- Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and advises leadership if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within the standard repair times
- Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts. This includes evaluating and determining the course of action for maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends while on call and may require on-site supervision of the resolution to maintain operational efficiency.
- Inspects the quality of third-party repairs and or rebuilds
- Supervises third -party contractors and ensures their compliance with company rules and regulations.
- Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns
- Maintains a clean safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures Perform other job-related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- Experience: 25 years in facility/industrial maintenance across multiple trades; strong troubleshooting mindset.
- Licenses/Certifications (assets): G-class drivers license with clean abstract; WHMIS; First Aid;
- Working at Heights; Confined Space; lift equipment (forklift/scissor/boom) tickets; HVAC/electrical/plumbing tickets where applicable.
- Technical: Comfortable with HVAC PMs minor electrical (within certification) plumbing repairs hydraulics/pneumatics basics
- small engines doors/overheads/gates lighting and general carpentry/finishes. Able to read sketches/diagrams/drawings.
- Digital: Proficient with MS Office or Google Workspace and basic email/internet; maintenance tracking experience preferred.
- Soft Skills: Clear communication customer mindset organization time management and the ability to work independently or with contractors/crews.
