We are seeking Somali Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Somali is a critical East African language widely spoken in Somalia Ethiopia Kenya Djibouti and diaspora communities and is frequently required for asylum and immigration interviews.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Somali English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers applicants and stakeholders.

Interpret with accuracy impartiality and professionalism in immigration asylum and legal contexts.
Maintain confidentiality in compliance with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Somali and English.
2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration legal community medical or government preferred).
Familiarity with interpreter ethics confidentiality and cultural awareness.
Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
