Job Summary:
The Columbia On-call Child Care Worker is responsible for supporting the development safety and well-being of children in our care during events such as Moms Bible Study (MBS) Mom Community (MOMCO) Wednesdays choir practice and other special events at Columbia Church. The ideal candidate will be described as compassionate dependable and enthusiastic about creating a nurturing environment that engages children in age-appropriate activities and fosters positive relationships with children families and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Warmly welcome new and returning children.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times.
- Implement engaging activities that promote physical emotional intellectual and social development by using the churchs curriculum.
- Assist children with daily routines including meals hygiene rest and play.
- Maintain a clean organized and stimulating classroom or play area.
- Adhere to all applicable health safety and licensing regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure a positive and cohesive work environment.
- Attend required trainings staff meetings and professional development sessions.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Availability to pass a background check.
- Be a US citizen permanent US resident or authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and availability to be trained on Child Care and Development topics in person and virtually.
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor environments.
- This role requires frequent standing walking lifting and active engagement.
- Exposure to cleaning supplies bodily fluids and varying noise levels.
Compensation:
This is an hourly non-exempt and on-call position with a pay rate of $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children in a licensed facility or similar setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.
- Strong communication skills with children parents and coworkers.
- Shows strong awareness of and appreciation for cultural differences adapting communication and behavior accordingly.
- Understanding of church environments and a commitment to supporting child ministry goals.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and actively engage with children on their level (e.g. sitting bending kneeling).
