Job Summary

San Francisco Health Network Community Primary Care (SFHN CPC) division is hiring part-time 2565 Acupuncturists.

Essential Duties

Under the direction of the lead acupuncturist and acupuncturist medical supervisor the acupuncturist works within an organized system for the delivery of health care in association with other members of the health care team and performs specialized duties in clinical settings. Care may be delivered in individual and/or group visits.

  • Performs intake evaluation of clients for acupuncture treatment. Develops treatment plans and provides acupuncture treatment to clients.
  • Keeps charts of treatments and discharges patients from treatment. Maintains records for services rendered.
  • As a member of a multi-disciplinary health team collaborates with other staff in working with clients. Engages in mutual consultation with staff physicians regarding medical and psychiatric issues.
  • Provides in-service training to staff regarding cases appropriate for acupuncture referral. Participates in staff and intake meetings.
  • Performs related duties including counseling of clients. Provides information education and publicity to the public regarding acupuncture services.
  • Maintains acupuncture equipment and inventory of supplies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned/required

LOCATION: Any San Francisco Health Network Primary Care Clinic including but not limited to: Castro-Mission Health Center Chinatown Public Health Center Community Health Programs for Youth Curry Senior Center Family Health Center Maxine Hall Health Center Ocean Park Health Center Potrero Hill Health Center Richard Fine Peoples Clinic Silver Avenue Family Health Center Southeast Family Health Center Tom Waddell Urban Health Center Ward 86

SCHEDULE/SHIFT: 8 AM 5 PM Monday-Friday evenings and weekends may be required.


    Qualifications :

    Requires possession of a current valid license to practice acupuncture issued by the California Acupuncture Board.

    Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. 

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the qualifications listed in the general announcement individuals who possess the following skills/experience are especially encouraged to apply:

      • Lived and/or work experience with Black Indigenous and/or People of Color (BIPOC) populations
      • Ambulatory care experience in an urban environment serving diverse low-income populations experiencing complex medical and psychosocial challenges
      • Understanding of how systemic racism white supremacy and other forms of bias affect patient engagement retention and health outcomes
      • Sensitivity to and experience working with LGBTQ individuals
      • Experience working in multi-disciplinary team-based care and one or more of the following: trauma-informed care health care for the homeless harm reduction or chronic care management models
      • Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Cantonese Mandarin Russian or Spanish
      • Flexibility to serve patients at multiple different clinical sites and commitment to meeting network productivity goals
      • Ability to work with staff from diverse social and economic backgrounds with respect understanding and teamwork -- including and especially staff from non-clinical disciplines
      • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
      • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment
      • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills
      • Commitment to reducing health disparities and actively contributing to our goal to become an anti-racist organization

    Assessment Component
    Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the Training and Experience (T&E) supplemental questionnaire. This evaluation is designed to measure knowledge skills and/or abilities in job-related areas that have been identified as critical for satisfactory performance in this position. All relevant experience education and/or training must be on the application in order to be reviewed in the scoring process. Candidate responses on the Evaluation cannot be changed once submitted.

    Candidates must achieve a passing score on the Training and Experience (T&E) evaluation in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.

    Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.

    Certification
    The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be theRule of the List.

    Eligible List/Score Report:
