The Corporate Finance Energy Utilities Resources and Infrastructure (EURI) team are sector specialists at the forefront of advising our clients on the journey towards decarbonising the economy. Much of our work focuses on issues relating to investment financing and procurement needs related to the development of infrastructure in a diverse and exciting market that includes:
energy transition (e.g. renewable generation battery storage nuclear hydrogen carbon capture and storage biogas);
utilities (e.g. water electricity gas district heating);
transport (rail road airports buses EV charging);
digital infrastructure (e.g. fibre data centres mobile networks); and
other infrastructure (e.g. energy-from-waste facilities).
We have an excellent reputation for bringing deep industry expertise and actionable insights to our clients through our analysis and market leading deals experience. Our team is encouraged to work on an agile basis across a range of products and services to develop the wide ranging sector expertise that differentiates us to our clients. This covers advice in areas including:
mergers and acquisitions (both sell-side and buy-side);
working with project sponsors and investors on the funding financing and structuring of infrastructure projects;
supporting the public sector on major infrastructure projects;
supporting our clients to procure assets or prepare bids to develop assets including supporting commercial and financial negotiations and preparation of financial models and financial analysis;
design and implementation of infrastructure regulation and new business models.
We also frequently collaborate with our specialist teams on restructuring situations and infrastructure asset valuations.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Associate youll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive advisory and industry experience helping our public and private sector clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Learning and applying technical skills to assist in the work we do for example in financial analysis financial modelling valuations running M&A processes report writing
Proactively assisting in the management of several clients while reporting to Managers and above
Supervising and coaching junior team members
Establishing effective working relationships directly with clients
Contributing to the development of your own and the teams technical and commercial acumen
Keeping up to date with local and national business and economic issues
Being actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients
Continuing to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand
Being curious about new technology and the implications of this for our work and for our clients
About the role
As a Senior Associate within the team the individual would expect to be involved in the following types of work:
Day to day project work on live transactions and projects including carrying out analysis drafting deliverables and liaising with clients and other advisers
Financial modelling and analysis of transactions/assets/projects
Preparation of written reports and presentations including information memoranda (IMs) teasers management/board presentations business cases procurement documents (e.g. ITTs) and other reports
Commercial due diligence and economic feasibility analysis
Performing valuations returns analysis
Project options appraisal
Industry- / company-specific research
Business development activities including identification and targeting of potential opportunities drafting pitch documents and preparing public sector proposals
Essential skills and experience
ACA qualified or equivalent desirable but not essential (at minimum time-qualified at time of application)
Ability to communicate complex concepts and analysis in concise and easy-to-understand language both verbally and in writing
A proactive attitude with good attention to detail
Strong analytical skills
Experience of using Excel and an appetite to develop advanced financial modelling skills with training and coaching support
Ability to grasp complex commercial issues quickly
A curious mindset and willingness to work in and learn about the range of sub-sectors services and clients we cover in the EURI market
Strong time management skills under tight deadlines
Able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams including a range of specialists from PwC the client and the clients other advisors
An interest in infrastructure and an appetite to keep up to date with key issues affecting the sector
