The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property team is currently looking to staff the Building Systems Specialist position.
The Building Systems Specialist plays a central role in the full lifecycle management of our electrical and mechanical facility systems. You will develop and implement technology-driven strategies to ensure our systems operate reliably and efficiently from acquisition to disposal. Using smart technologies sensors and IoT (Internet of Things) solutions you will monitor performance optimize maintenance and provide expert advice on improvements.
In this role you will lead the maintenance repair and replacement of vital systems applying technical expertise and data analysis to guide decisions. You will collaborate with project teams manage contracts and oversee service agreements to ensure safe cost-effective and high-performing operations. By driving proactive maintenance programs and recommending strategic upgrades you will extend the life of critical assets and enhance the long-term performance of House of Commons facilities.

Qualifications :
Education :
- Undergraduate degree or post-secondary certificate in a field such as architecture and/or mechanical and/or electrical engineering technology or other building-related program OR an acceptable combination of education training and experience.
Experiences:
- 10 years of experience in facilities management including property management maintenance and repair projects tenant improvements vendor negotiations and budget management;
- Experience working with architects engineers and planners to integrate design solutions and in developing long-term maintenance strategies using lifecycle cost analysis;
- Knowledge of modern lifecycle management principles methods and practices for building facilities and supporting systems;
- Experience managing HVAC electrical plumbing and mechanical systems including repairs maintenance and digital recordkeeping;
- Experience applying smart technologies (sensors data analytics wireless tools) to optimize facilities with knowledge of real estate construction and facilities trends and project management practices.
Asset :
- Knowledge of the House of Commons organization and its building complexes its facilities management framework and the regulations and codes at federal provincial and municipal levels.
