About the Role

Thompson Engineering is seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice President Coastal Resources Waterways and Navigation Practice Leader to drive growth technical excellence and innovation across our coastal and water resource markets.

In this key leadership role you will guide strategy and execution in areas including coastal restoration navigation ecosystem restoration ports and harbors water resources resiliency and economic development. You will play a central role in shaping our market presence strengthening client relationships and fostering collaboration across our disciplines and geographies.

What Youll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Position Thompson Engineering as a market leader through client and market insight technical innovation and program excellence.
  • Define and deliver the Program Project and Contract Management (PPCM) strategy to enhance project execution and business performance.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to anticipate trends address complex challenges and align initiatives with long-term corporate goals.

Organizational Alignment

  • Translate corporate strategy into actionable plans that reinforce our mission vision and values.
  • Communicate key priorities and inspire teams to achieve shared business objectives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify needs resolve challenges and guide effective decision-making.

Technical & Market Expertise

  • Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in coastal engineering water resources navigation and related regulatory and policy areas.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies funding mechanisms and industry best practices.
  • Represent Thompson Engineering at professional events conferences and client engagements.

Innovation & Change Management

  • Lead innovative initiatives that strengthen company performance and client satisfaction.
  • Build and manage partnerships internally and externally to accelerate collaboration and market impact.
  • Drive market research to identify opportunities and guide strategic investment.

Talent & Technical Excellence

  • Build organizational capability across disciplines including civil structural survey geotechnical hydraulics & hydrology dredging environmental and planning.
  • Mentor emerging leaders and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and technical excellence companywide.

What You Bring

  • Executive-level leadership experience in coastal engineering waterways or environmental infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive business growth.
  • Expertise in navigating complex client regulatory and funding environments.
  • Strong communication relationship management and team leadership skills.
