This position aims to understand the classic and elusive chromosomal species known as double minutes. Double minutes are extrachromosomal acentric chromatin bodies that are the hallmark of oncogenes in human cancers. Double minutes have a unique gene expression program and atypical chromosome segregation during mitosis; yet the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. The goals are to elucidate the chromatin structure and associated factors of double minutes during interphase and metaphase to uncover the mechanisms underlying gene regulation and chromosome maintenance.
Position Responsibilities:
Your primary role as a postdoctoral researcher will be to develop independent research projects with the guidance of Dr. Hai Dao. You are expected to finish at least one project within three years. Additionally you will have opportunities to get involved in collaborative projects mentoring junior staffs and addition to performing experiments you will be expected to participate in writing your manuscripts and lab grants. As part of the career development plan you are encouraged to participate in relevant conferences and training courses.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
Interested candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemical biology biochemistry or molecular biology. Preference will be given to applicants who have received their Ph.D. degrees within three years.
