This position primarily supports the implementation of the Parents As Teachers model emphasizing parent education in childrens development ages birth to five years old and promoting positive parent-child interactions. The role also coordinates clear and effective communication with parents to support family engagement and student success.
JOB SUMMARY
The Pre-K Instructor teaches supervises and supports young preschool students at assigned locations where needed. This role ensures compliance with program requirements assists with parent education programs and coordinates effective communications with parents and families. The Pre-K Instructor fosters a safe engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment promoting both academic and social growth for students.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
Child Development Associate Certification
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification or associate or bachelors degree in an early childhood education-related field including a kindergarten transition plan
- CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Familiarity with Pre-K classroom teaching and management age-appropriate activities stages of child development Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning concepts
- Basic experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Access etc.) and experience using data-based software
- Ability to speak read write present professionally and analyze understand and interpret written and verbal communications in English
- Experience operating standard office equipment including phone scanner fax and copy machines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Associate or bachelors degree in an early childhood education-related field including a kindergarten transition plan
- Parent Educator Certification through Parents As Teachers Model to be obtained within two (2) years of employment
- Experience teaching pre-K classes or leading pre-K activities
- Experience working with families and supporting family development
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess student learning participation and skills to provide quality age-appropriate instruction
- Supervise academic enrichment activities (e.g. class activities field trips visits by guests etc.) guiding students in learning from those enhancements
- Prepare teaching materials and related reports document student progress (e.g. attendance anecdotal records etc.) and implement lesson plans
- Provide for the individual needs of students (e.g. assistive devices supportive technology assistance accessing facilities etc.) to ensure access to a quality educational program
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment and report incidents (e.g. fights suspected child abuse neglect suspected substance abuse etc.) to ensure compliance with administrative and school policies and state and federal law
- Collaborate with school personnel and parents to improve the quality of student outcomes develop solutions plan curriculum convey information on student progress and encourage parental involvement
- Perform record-keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling copying data recording etc.) to support the administrator and department
- Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees students and stakeholders
- Participate in meetings workshops and seminars as assigned to convey or gather information required to perform functions
- Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing pulling stooping kneeling crouching crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
