ENTRUST Canada is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Our expertise includes all aspects of Transmission Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV.

Opportunity:

ENTRUST Canada is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Calgary to support our substation engineering department. We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team where you will be offered guidance and hands on training and continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

What Youll Do:

Substation Civil Engineering Leadership & Technical Oversight

Lead mentor and provide senior guidance to the substation civil engineering team including training and development of junior staff.
Act as a subject matter expert in earthworks site development plans storm water management and related civil aspects of f substation battery storage solar and sites.
Maintain deep knowledge of client and industry standards ensuring compliance across all deliverables.
Oversee technical aspects of site development permitting and compliance related to various municipal and provincial regulatory jurisdictions.

Design & Documentation

Oversee and review engineering designs to ensure alignment with industry codes client standards internal processes and environmental and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts and prepare key documentation including Design Basis Memoranda engineering design specifications permitting submissions and Issued for Construction (IFC) packages.
Develop scopes of work cost estimates material take-offs and construction documents.

Project Development Execution & Support

Act as subject matter expert in permitting applications including liaising with municipal and provincial agencies as required.
Provide engineering support throughout construction including quality control reviews technical guidance and preparation of As-Built drawings and close-out documentation.
Track engineering progress to ensure adherence to project budgets and schedules and deliver weekly updates to senior management.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

Support other Maskwa delivery teams (Transmission and Distribution) as needed.
Identify and implement tools and processes to improve efficiency and quality.
Contribute to bids and proposals through cost estimating and technical writing.
Foster strong client and stakeholder relationships through consistent communication technical expertise and high-quality customer service.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years work experience.

. in Civil Engineering or similar
. (registered as an active member with APEGA)

Experience in the utility industry.
Proven track record in civil design of high voltage substation facilities.
Experience with earthworks grading access roads runoff and storm water management erosion and sedimentation control municipal tie-ins (sewar and water) site services (water power lighting) etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

15 years experience working in utility substations

Previous experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineers.
Competency in a broader range of civil sub-disciplines including structural engineering foundations and geotechnical.
