Job Summary

About the Role

The MEAL Intern will provide essential support to the MEAL team in tracking project progress and ensuring community feedback is heard. This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience in all components of the MEAL cycle including data management field monitoring and community accountability mechanisms. The intern will work under the close supervision of the MEAL Specialist.

What Youll Be Doing

The MEAL Intern role entails:

& Data Collection Support:

  • Assist the MEAL unit in community mobilization for project registration verification and data cleaning.
  • Support the field team in the validation of potential project participants using pre-set criteria.
  • Support training of enumerators for key project M & E activities like Outcome Monitoring Survey beneficiary profiling rolling out the graduation model etc.

2.Evaluation & Data Management Support:

  • Learn to use the project database (e.g. Excel) by assisting in the accurate capture and enrolment of eligible participants.
  • Support the team in updating project databases and running basic checks to ensure data quality.
  • Assist in the preparation of registers for various project interventions.

3.Accountability & Community Feedback:

  • Support the establishment and training of community-based monitoring and feedback focal point persons.
  • Learn about the projects Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanism and assist in logging feedback.
  • Participate in following up on routine accountability issues from the field under guidance.

& Reporting:

  • Assist in compiling and consolidating monitoring data from the field for analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in project review meetings and help in documenting key lessons learned.
  • Prepare and submit simple activity reports and provide regular updates to the MEAL Specialist.

Qualifications :

Applicants should have

  • Recent graduate or currently enrolled in a university degree in Statistics Economics Social Sciences Development Studies or related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in MEAL project management or international development.
  • Basic understanding of data collection methods and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • No prior professional MEAL experience required; volunteer or academic project experience is an advantage.
