Position Summary:
Freestone Lake and Golf is one of our new developments and we are growing! We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Horticulturalist to join our team at our premier golf course in Fairfield Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning installation and maintenance of ornamental landscaping throughout the property ensuring the visual appeal and health of all plant life aligns with the high standards of our facility. This role is ideal for a creative and knowledgeable plant specialist with a passion for aesthetics and sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Horticulture Plant Science Landscape Architecture or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in horticulture or landscape management preferably on a golf course resort or estate.
- Strong knowledge of regional plant materials soil science irrigation systems and pest management.
- Texas Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Proficiency with landscape design software and tools is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail creativity and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Work Environment:
- The majority of work is performed outdoors on golf course grounds.
- Early morning weekend and holiday work may be required.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs walking long distances kneeling bending and operating landscaping equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design install and maintain ornamental plantings in high-visibility areas such as entryways clubhouses tee boxes and common areas.
- Select plants and flowers suited for Texas climate and course environment with attention to drought tolerance and seasonal color.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage and plant health.
- Identify and treat plant diseases and pest issues using environmentally responsible methods.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Grounds Crew to coordinate landscaping projects with course maintenance.
- Monitor landscape budgets and recommend cost-effective enhancements.
- Supervise landscaping staff or seasonal workers when applicable.
- Maintain records of plant care schedules treatments and installations.
- Ensure all horticultural work reflects the brand and prestige of the facility.
