What we need:

We are seeking energetic passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Horticulturalist 1 within the Division of Forestry headquartered at Buckeye State Tree Nursery assigned to Muskingum County. What you will do...

• Propagates and cultivates native tree species including water management fertility management transplanting integrated pest management and maintaining high-quality containerized seedlings

• Operates specialized horticulture machinery to support the production line

• Ensures all planting processes follow proper guidelines

• Collects and analyzes data for seed collection and processing

• Provides advice and information on horticultural matters and researches additional needs as necessary

• Assists the Horticulturalist 2 at the Buckeye State Tree Nursery in all horticulture activities

• Starting hourly pay of $21.93/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service with an end salary of $25.77/hr.
• There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details refer to the OCSEA pay range schedule & longevity rates OCSEA Employees Department of Administrative Services.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May work outdoors 20-50% of time; may be exposed to dirt &/or hot humid conditions in greenhouse.
