MacKillop Catholic College Mount Peter is seeking applications for an Assistant Principal - Learning & Teaching to join their Secondary team commencing in 2026.


Commencement Date:
Term 1 2026 - 17 January 2026

Employment Type: Full Time - Fixed Term Contract (5 years) - This position holds a substantive Permanent Teaching position within the Cairns Diocese.

Substantive Role: Permanent Teacher

Salary Range:Commensurate with experience AP1 $149763 - AP3 $157119 gross per annum FTE12.75% Super

MacKillop Catholic College () a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes. The College will progressively develop by year levels and the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025. Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross and the Josephite tradition our mission to inspire hearts minds and spirits is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community.

About the Role

As part of the Leadership Team of the College the Assistant Principal Learning and Teaching Primary is responsible for curriculum development implementation and delivery for the College. The Assistant Principal Learning and Teaching Primary works collaboratively with the Leadership Team and staff to promote the college as a centre of high quality learning and teaching. They encourage a climate of excellence where Teachers are engaged and empowered to develop their knowledge skills and capabilities to be high-performing educators and support students to achieve their potential.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

  • Professional qualifications in Education and Religion as per Queensland Catholic Education Commission Position Statement for Senior Leadership Positions in Catholic Schools in Queensland
  • Willingness to support and participate in the prayer liturgy and sacramental life of the Church in the school community
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives vision and ethos of Catholic Education
  • Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
  • Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Leadership experience:
      • Demonstrated ability in religious education leadership
      • Demonstrated administrative ability
      • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
  • Written and verbal communication skills of a high order
  • Promote child safety at all times
  • Current drivers licence
