Special Investigations Division

The Special Investigations Division is comprised of and responsible for the following sections/units/programs:

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in law enforcement investigatory work or military intelligence work; OR

Twelve hours in law enforcement or a criminal justice field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.

Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
  • Investigate violations of Louisiana law related to crimes against children and human trafficking
  • Prepares detailed criminal investigative reports
  • Collects physical and circumstantial evidence to support criminal cases
  • Testifies in court hearings and trials as a representative of the investigation
  • Collaborates with law enforcement agencies and child advocacy organizations as needed
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of investigative activities
