Description

ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES within classification.

  1. Responsiblefor fundamentalcookingtechniques(.)andfamiliarwith useofkitchenequipment
  2. Responsible fortheproper utilization of all kitchen equipment including the setup breakdown safety and sanitation and proper storage
  3. Collaborate withExecutive Chef/kitchen management to organize andprioritize production forweekly cycle menu
  4. Cookanyitemsthatappearonthemenueither preparingpersonallydirectingordemonstratingthe procedureforacook/shortorder/studentemployees
  5. Assist Executive Chef/kitchen management/supervisor in establishing preparation and presentation standards for stations maintain standards bypersonally preparing or by directing appropriateassigned staff ensure food quality and freshness by utilizing just-iri-time preparation techniques
  6. Assist Executive Chef/kitchen management/supervisorbyrecording quantities produced tracking leftovers and ensuring yield accuracies of recipes
  7. ConferwithExecutiveChef/kitchenmanagementtoprepfoodsthatcanbeaccomplishedwithout sacrificingthenutritionalvalueofthefood
  8. Effectively communicate withother employees all information necessary to ensure efficient work flow and timely service to customers Overseeandassistin the cleaningandsanitationofassignedstation
  9. Cleanandorganizerefrigeratorsfreezersandallequipmentinworkstations
  10. Maintainqualitystandardsestablishedbymanagementregardingappearancetemperaturetexture tasteandpresentationofallproducts
  11. Ensure that all foodis properly prepared served andstoredin refrigerator and freezer in accordance with New York State Health codes
  12. ConferwithExecutiveChef/kitchenmanagement/supervisortoensurefoodstocksincludingleftovers areutilizedefficientlyandspoilage/wasteisminimized
  13. ConferwithSupervisorastoextradutiesincleaningandfoodpreparation
  14. Assistindevelopmentandtesting ofnewrecipes
  15. When giventestedrecipesfollowrecipeasgiven
  16. Assistinspecialevents/cateringeventswhenassigned
  17. Performalldutiesregardingcleaningorfoodpreparationasassignedby Supervisor
  18. Demonstrateknowledgeandproficiencyinthepreparationandsetupofspecialdietrequest
  19. Ability to writeroutine notes and supply requests; ability tospeak andlisteneffectively and professionally with supervisors customers and employees of the College.
  20. Establishandmaintainahighlevelofcustomerservice
  21. Participateinculinaryeventsin-houseandinotherlocationsasassigned
  22. Frequentcheckandrecordtemperaturesoffoodthroughouttheday inaccordancewithDiningServices policies and New York State Board of Health Policies

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONand/orEXPERIENCE

High School diploma orgeneral education degree (GED); and fiveyears relatedexperience and/or training in cooking-related skills; or equivalent combination. Associate degree in culinary arts preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Abilityto readandinterpretdocumentssuchasrecipessafetyrulesoperatingandproceduremanuals.

MATHEMATICALSKILLS

Abilitytoaddsubtractdivideandmultiplyinculinaryweightsandmeasurements.

REASONINGABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry outinstructions furnished in writtenor oralform. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to utilize or learn basic computer functions.

Saturday 11:00am -7:30pm

Sunday 12:00pm-8:30pm

Monday 12:00pm -8:30pm

Tuesday 10:00am -6:30pm

Wednesday 10:00am-6:30pm

Thursday off

Friday off

Pay rate: $24.53 per hour
