The Challenge

Electron Microscopy is a foundational technology in Life Sciences. However interpreting sophisticated microscopic images for improving quality or gey insights still requires significant human expertise. With the rise of multimodal AI modelsparticularly Vision-Language Models (VLMs) such as CLIP BLIP Lora LLaVAthere is growing potential to automate accelerate and improve image understanding using AI.

This internship strives to fine-tuning pre-trained local vision-language models to better understand and interpret microscopy images and explore pattern for autonomous instruments based on Generative AI.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to innovation by supporting engineers in exploring new technologies
  • Stay current with state-of-the-art vision-language models and their application
  • Build a proof-of-concept demo or interface showcasing model capabilities in interpreting microscopy images.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to collect feedback and guide model improvements.
  • Prepare presentations and reports summarizing key learnings results and potential impact on microscopy workflows.
