Over the past 20 years we have played a leading role in the development of pro bono in the UK.
The firms Citizenship priorities - developed from a predominantly community investment and pro bono focus - now cover a broader corporate responsibility (CR) agenda. The Hogan Lovells Citizenship agenda comprises four programmes:
(1) Pro Bono
(2) Community Investment
(3) Touch (our global matched giving programme)
(4) Sustainability
Our Pro Bono Practice is split into two main disciplines:
1. Corporate advice to charities and social enterprises.
This work allows our lawyers to use their fee earning practices to work with some inspirational organisations creating lasting social change.
2. Access to Justice and Rule of Law projects.
These projects provide advice to some of the most vulnerable members of society who would not ordinarily have access to justice. We also work with charities and social welfare lawyers to further access to justice and the rule of law across the globe. This work is primarily litigation research or advice based work allowing our trainees to develop those skill and our litigation lawyers to use their litigation negotiation and research skills to provide access to justice and create a social impact.
