Are you passionate about delivering a living skills program that empowers youth toward employment and independence Are you an experienced practitioner with strong partnerships with employers education providers and community services Provide trauma-informed strengths-based support through tailored coaching and tenancy plans to expand opportunities for young people.

The part-time role of Youth Development Coach supports our mission by engaging young people who are living in our supported accommodation program as they transition to employment and/or education using an Advantaged Thinking Practice approach. This is achieved through providing one-on-one coaching and group experiential learning activities to participants that align with their career aspirations address personal barriers to education and employment and link them with support services as needed.

Youll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work Human Services Education Youth Work Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the causes and consequences of youth unemployment and the kinds of strategies that are successful in helping young people follow pathways to work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills which demonstrate an ability to create positive relationships with a wide range of young people including young people of diverse backgrounds and involve young people in activities and decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in career planning and guidance resulting in placements in employment and/or education and training and experience in group facilitation and training including the development of training content and resources.
  • The ability to maintain relevant service standards to ensure quality service provision including participation in and contribution to program evaluation activities to continuously adapt and improve service responses for young people.
  • Ability to work without onsite supervision exercising an informed level of initiative judgement and decision making in individual case work.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. Youll need to be able to have or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card Blue Card.
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination immunity or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases Measles Mumps Rubella and Varicella Chicken Pox; Pertussis Whooping Cough.
