Job Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both Sybase ASE 15.7 and Microsoft SQL Server and strong troubleshooting and Unix/Linux skills.
The position will play a critical role in supporting our current Sybase environment and assisting in our long-term migration project to move from Sybase to SQL Server within approximately three years.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain Sybase ASE 15.7 databases on Solaris (x86)
Assist with database migration from Sybase to SQL Server
Develop and maintain CRON jobs and scripts in Unix/Linux environments
Work on SQL Server environments (development test and production) across both on-premise and Azure servers
Support cluster management and disaster recovery (DR) configurations
Participate in weekly data fixes and after-hours implementations as needed
Follow formal change control processes and documentation standards
Collaborate with senior DBAs to balance workload across Sybase and SQL Server environments

Required Skills & Qualifications

10 years of overall experience as a Database Administrator
4 5 years of hands-on experience with Sybase and SQL Server
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Proficiency with Unix/Solaris/Linux command line and CRON job management
Experience working in formal change control environments
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field

Preferred Skills

Experience with EFL tools (Migration)
Previous involvement in database migration projects (Sybase to SQL Server)
Familiarity with Azure SQL environments

Environment Overview

Current environment: Sybase 15.7 on Solaris (x86)
SQL Server environment: Mixed versions on Windows Server (on-prem and Azure)
Ongoing project to upgrade SQL Server versions and complete migration from Sybase
