Job summary
We are seeking a Data Privacy Officer / Director Data Governance to lead DigiCerts global Data Governance Program. This role will oversee both Data Governance Operations and Data Governance Legal integrating legal operational and technical perspectives to build and maintain a world-class privacy data and AI compliance framework.
You will oversee DigiCerts data privacy and AI governance programs and be ultimately responsible for DigiCerts data privacy practices across its global business. You will also oversee legal functions advising the company on data privacy cybersecurity and AI legal matters. You will report to the companys General Counsel.
What you will do
Program Leadership and Strategy
- Define and execute the mission vision and strategy for DigiCerts Data Governance Program including managing the companys data privacy and responsible AI program and oversee legal and the company on cybersecurity matters.
- Serve as the companys Data Privacy Officer (Data Protection Officer in the EEA)
- Manage a team of operations professionals and legal counsel.
- Represent and coordinate advice on data privacy cybersecurity law and responsible AI matters to executive leadership and other company groups.
Data Governance Operations Oversight
- Oversee and continuously improve DigiCerts enterprise data and AI governance operations including data and AI inventories privacy-by-design implementation DSRR management vendor assessments impact assessments and audit and certification readiness.
Legal Counsel and Compliance
- Direct and supervise DigiCerts global legal framework for privacy cybersecurity and AI governancesupervising advice on laws/standards and drafting/negotiating key policies and agreements handling escalations related to contract negotiations training teams managing regulatory and customer interactions and overseeing compliance and legal risk management across data operations.
Incident Readiness and Response
- Work with Security to maintain incident readiness and response program and to respond to data incidents.
Training Awareness and Communication
- Drive employee privacy data governance and AI compliance training.
- Promote privacy and AI governance awareness through internal communications and education.
- Contribute to DigiCerts external privacy and AI thought leadership through articles webinars and industry engagement.
Documentation and Knowledge Management
- Ensure maintenance of program documentation including assessments policies and reports.
- Maintain and develop the Data Governance Knowledge Base and intranet resources.
- Track and report on key metrics gaps progress and performance indicators.
What you will have
- 7 years combined experience in privacy cybersecurity or data governance including leadership or management roles.
- Deep understanding of global data privacy cybersecurity and AI regulation (GDPR CCPA NIST ISO etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional programs involving legal technical and operational elements.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience managing legal and/or operational teams.
- Self-directed organized and capable of translating complex regulatory issues into actionable business measures.
- (preferred) J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Nice to have
- Experience managing enterprise data governance or AI governance programs in a technology company.
- Familiarity with PKI SSL/TLS digital trust DNS technologies.
- Privacy or security professional certification(s) (CIPP CIPM CISSP etc.).
- Experience with privacy/AI audits and external certifications.
- Strong legal drafting negotiation and analytical skills.
- Experience with program management or compliance frameworks.
