We are seeking aStaffAIEngineerto join ourSoftware Engineeringteamwithstrongbackground indesigning buildingdeployingandmaintainingAI solutionsin productionwith an emphasis onsoftware engineering role is criticalinbridgingthe gap between the theoretical capabilities of AI and its practical implementationby operationalizing AI modelsbuilding AI systems that arescalable robustandreliable in real-world environments.
The idealcandidate is a hands-on engineer with strongsoftware engineering data engineeringMLOps DevOps and cloud engineeringexpertise capable of owning the fulldevelopmentlifecycle fromdesigningarchitecting and developingAI solutions todeployment monitoring and optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional partners whoresearch andprototype models andintegrate AI features into IMOHealthproducts.
WHAT YOULL DO:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition AI/ML models from prototypes into scalable production-ready systems.
- Leadsystem design and architecture discussions bringingexpertiseinAI engineeringMLOpsand AI deployment best practices.
- Write high-quality source code including detailed documentation and high-level technical designs in collaboration with other engineers.
- Develop andmaintainAI-driven applications ensuring high performance scalability reliability and securityoptimizing forlatency throughput and cost.
- Integrate large language models (LLMs) generative AI and NLP solutions into IMO Healths products with a focus on unstructured clinical data.
- Apply containerization (Docker Kubernetes) and Infrastructure-as-Code to manage production environments.
- Collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams aligning technical solutions with product and business goals.
- Implement creative solutions to technical challenges applying out-of-the-box thinking to improve existing products.
- Conduct and lead root cause analysis on defects ensuring fixes are implemented correctly.
- GuideAgileteamson best practicesacross all junior developers.
- Champion technical standards and architectural alignment.
- Advocate for defining and testing Non-Functional Requirements (Availability Scalability Reliability and Maintainability).
- Collaborate with team members while fostering trust commitment and accountability.
- Drive discovery and minimization of technical debt proactively addressing implications and consequences of technical decisions.
WHAT YOULL NEED:
- 8 years of professional experience in software engineering AI/ML engineering or relatedrolesbuilding production-grade web applications.
- Bachelors orMasters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong foundationin computer science fundamentals including data structures algorithms design patterns operating systems and networking.
- Strong coding skills in Python or Java with experience in softwareengineeringbest practices.
- Experience in developing AI-powered applications including LLM integrationprompt engineering and agenticconcepts.
- Experience fine-tuning and deploying large language models (LLMs) and generative AI solutionsin production.
- Solid hands-on experiencewith cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) containerization and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Experience withMLOpstools and workflows ( SageMaker Kubeflow).
- Experiencewith CI/CD pipelines automation and monitoring.
- Working knowledge of NLP concepts (tokenization embeddings classification sequencemodeling) healthcare domain exposure is a plus.
- Experience working with Elasticsearch and vector databases for embedding-based search and retrieval.
- Ability to translate business needs intooptimaltechnical implementations while balancing technical debt and delivery speed.
- Strong problem-solving mindset to handle complex technical challenges and make informed architectural decisions.
- Experience in high-performance scalable system design.
- Excellent collaboration skills working effectively with cross-functional teams includingProductArchitecture andDataScience.
- Passion for AI technologies and innovation particularly in applications for healthcare.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional distributed teams.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and contribute from day one.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with clinical or healthcare AI applications.
- Familiarity with Hugging Face PyTorch TensorFlow or other modern ML frameworks.
- AWS Associate-level certification (Machine Learning Engineer or Solutions Architect).
$170000 - $250000 a year
Compensation at IMO Health is determined by job level role requirements and each candidates experience skills and location. The listed base pay represents the target for new hires with individual compensation varying accordingly.
