TheMontana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting a Heavy Equipment Vehicle Technician (Service/Combo B) in Bozeman. This position assists with the maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment such as automobiles light and heavy-duty trucks as well as construction equipment (diesel gasoline hybrid or propane) adjusts diagnoses and replaces nonfunctional parts of devices and control instruments replaces worn or defective parts repairs and replaces tires on vehicles and equipment lubricates and cleans parts performs some minor repairs without supervision.

  • One (1) years experience as a lubrication technician light duty tire technician or mechanics assistant.
    • Formal light or heavy-duty technical training and/or certification(s) will also be considered. Basic computer knowledge and working knowledge of basic record keeping.
  • A valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A Type II) with no restrictions a tank endorsement and a valid Medical Examiners Certificate (MEC). OR a permit with the ability to obtain the full license within 30 days of hire. A forklift certification must be obtained within 3 months after hire.

This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
