1. Purpose of the Role
The Senior Accountant will provide immediate hands-on financial management support to stabilize the finance department. This is a temporary consultancy role designed to ensure continuity compliance and operational efficiency within the accounting function during a critical period.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Process and load payments for suppliers contractors and other stakeholders.
- Oversee accounts reconciliations collections and receivables management.
- Address existing financial and data entry backlogs and update accounting records.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide required documentation.
- Ensure statutory and tax compliance (PAYE VAT Withholding NHIF NSSF etc.).
- Prepare and maintain financial reports ledgers and supporting schedules.
- Support management in implementing financial controls and best practices.
- Uphold confidentiality and integrity in managing large volumes of client funds.
3. Qualifications and Experience
- CPA (K) qualification (Certified Public Accountant Kenya).
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a reputable audit or accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of IFRS tax laws and accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks Sage or similar).
- Proven ability to handle high-value financial transactions with honesty and precision.
4. Key Competencies

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.

5. Nature and Duration of Engagement
- Consultancy-based temporary role not expected to be extremely intense but time-sensitive.
- Immediate start required.
- Contract duration: Specify period - 36 months renewable based on performance and organizational needs.
