Job Summary

RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and overseas candidates providing staffing solutions to Hospitals Nursing Homes Home Care and Community Care facilities.

We are currently hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing for a well-established Nursing Home in Cork Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the Person-in-Charge in the absence of the Director of Nursing in accordance with the Health Act 2007 related regulations and HIQA standards.

  • Ensure the highest standards of hygiene infection control and food safety are consistently maintained.

  • Collaborate with senior management to deliver excellence across housekeeping food safety and quality maintenance and administration.

  • Participate in clinical management within the home in consultation with the Director of Nursing including:

    • Providing direct care to residents.

    • Communicating effectively with residents families and representatives.

    • Supervising and supporting nursing and care staff.

    • Monitoring clinical performance and service standards.

    • Developing and implementing policies procedures and training programmes.

  • Coordinate the Quality and Safety System overseeing clinical risk management and promoting resident engagement in care planning.

  • Support ongoing staff development through coaching mentorship and regular performance appraisals.

  • Work with HR to manage grievance and disciplinary processes fairly and efficiently.

  • Coordinate rosters and manage staffing levels in collaboration with the senior management team.

  • Lead by example promoting a professional punctual and committed team culture.

  • Contribute to the development of policies standards and best practices for the Nursing Home sector.



Requirements

  • Be a Registered General Nurse with active registration on the NMBI Register.

  • Have not less than 3 years experience in nursing older persons within the previous 6 years.

  • Have a minimum of 7 years post-registration experience.

  • Hold a third-level qualification in management.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and inspection processes relevant to residential care centres.

  • Demonstrate strong ability to manage workload effectively while responding flexibly to new demands and priorities.

  • Show proven capacity to embrace change and a commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning within the care environment.

  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence build constructive relationships and achieve positive outcomes.

  • Promote a culture of quality and accountability establishing benchmarks and KPIs in consultation with the Director of Nursing.

  • Be available to work flexible hours as required.

    Required Education:

    Hold a third-level qualification in management. Nursing Degree
