Main Duties and Responsibilities

Accurately enter data provided by our customers into Descartes system

Sense check data provided by our customers against required source and advise on potential errors.

Create Import/Export declarations through CDS

Create Transit declarations through NCTS (New Computerised Transit System)

Create ENS Declarations

Deal with any queries effectively and efficiently

Direct liaison with Customs authorities such as HMRC & other agencies

Help maintain the team mailbox

Maintain/develop good working relationships with existing and new customers

Establish an effective collaborative relationship with Operational team and maintain communication with customers on all customs issues

Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the management of the Company.

Requirements

Experience of working in a customs brokerage environment.

Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff for a diverse range of product types.

Extremely organized with a high level of attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Ability to work with line manager on HMRC ad hoc requirements procedures audits etc.

Very good IT knowledge including Microsoft Office

Flexibility being on call

You must have Customs Clearance experience including familiarisation with customs processes customs systems (CDS) and HMRC regimes preferred.

You must have experience of freight forwarding in road.

Have a good understanding of the law legal codes government regulations political processes and agency rules
