Graduate Pathway to Success

Our 12-month Graduate Program is your stepping stone to becoming a successful Workplace Rehabilitation Registered Psychologist and at the end youll come out of it with a permanent role at KINNECT. Importantly this role meets all the requirements for a Provisional Psychologist to obtain the practical experience needed to register as a fully qualified psychologist while getting paid at the same time. With our guidance and support youll gain hands-on experience and develop the skills to:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients cognitive and psychological functioning to identify barriers to returning to work.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals employers and other stakeholders to develop individualised rehabilitation plans tailored to each clients needs.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy mindfulness techniques and stress management strategies to help clients overcome challenges and build resilience.
  • Offer counselling and education on topics such as mental health and wellbeing workplace stress management and fostering supportive work environments.
  • Monitor clients progress throughout rehabilitation adjusting intervention strategies as needed to facilitate successful return-to-work outcomes.
  • Deliver adjustment-to-injury counselling to support clients in understanding their injury and developing effective coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments treatment plans and progress notes adhering to professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Program Structure & Support

KINNECTs Graduate Pathway offers a structured 12-month development experience that aligns with the 51 internship requirements and sets you up for success.

  • External Supervision:KINNECT arranges and funds your external supervision through our partner program with a 51 college. You will be matched with an approved external supervisor for regular one-to-one and observed sessions. Coverage of external supervision costs is provided under the programs retention terms. Your Team Manager remains your day-to-day performance leader.
  • Mentorship:You will be paired with a mentor from your discipline for ongoing guidance and support.
  • Professional Development:You will receive structured support to complete your professional development activities including guidance toward the required 60 hours of PD access to National Psychology Exam preparation resources and facilitated workshops.
  • Logbooks and Case Studies:You will be supported to plan and complete your internship logbooks and the required case studies with templates and review checkpoints to help you stay on track.
  • Collaboration and Cohort Learning:Participate in internal forums shadowing opportunities and cohort sessions that connect you with peers across our network.
  • Personalised Learning:Tailor your development with additional courses and activities that align with your interests and goals.
  • Program Requirements (Summary): The 51 internship includes psychology-specific practice in approved roles completion of logbooks and four case studies professional development hours and the National Psychology Exam. We provide coordination support so you can plan your hours and milestones with confidence.
