DescriptionA research technician position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Kiyotake Ishikawa in the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
About us:In the Ishikawa lab we study the safety and efficacy of new drugs using large animal models (mostly pigs) of heart failure. This is an essential step before testing promising drugs in humans to determine the right dose and administration route. Clinical imaging tools such as fluoroscopy echocardiography and MRI are used in the lab to characterize heart function in vivo. We are also interested in understanding the pathological processes of heart failure and study myocardial tissue profiles after we collect them from the animal models.
We are one of the leading groups in cardiac gene therapy throughout the world and have more than 10 years of experience. Ongoing projects in the lab include: 1. Testing new gene therapy in pig heart failure models 2. Improving gene therapy efficacy using physiological modifications 3. Understanding the pathophysiology of various types of heart failure including ischemia pressure-overload cardiorenal syndrome etc. The lab conducts in vivo pig experiments on a daily basis.
More information about the Ishikawa Lab can be found here:
are seeking a highly organized and motivated Research Technician to support daily operations and experimental procedures in our laboratory. The ideal candidate will work closely with lab members on in vivo and post-mortem animal studies and contribute to maintaining a well-functioning lab environment.
