Position Title: Tenure Track/Tenured Faculty in Social Work

QUALIFICATIONS. We seek collegial faculty with an earned doctorate such as a DSW or PhD in social work social welfare or another relevant discipline. Applicants also must have an MSW; prior social work teaching experience; demonstrated research excellence including experience with or demonstrated potential for securing external funding of their research; and a commitment to creating inclusive accessible spaces for all students. Preferred candidates will have Professional/Research experience in mental health substance use disabilities and/or integrated care; classroom and online teaching experience; familiarity with learning management systems and communication/educational software; and experience teaching and mentoring students from different backgrounds in an inclusive setting. Faculty rank and salary will be determined based upon experience.
THE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK.The School of Social Works faculty serve students in CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW programs. The BSW program focuses on generalist practice while the MSW program allows students to specialize in an area and method of practice. These programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education through 2031. Classes are offered in-person and online. The School is supported by a strong Department of Practicum Education in its placement of students
Faculty in the School of Social Work conduct research on interpersonal violence fatherhood aging disabilities HIV/AIDS mental health housing insecurity substance abuse health services social isolation loss and grief LGBTQ social and health issues acculturation trauma equity practices and poverty. Funded collaborations with Health Sciences Administration and Policy Computer Science and Engineering faculty are supporting the development of social support focused chatbots and other tech supports.
THE COLLEGE. The Barnett College of Public Healths mission is to educate innovate and transform to bring about healthy equitable and thriving communities. Our CEPH-accredited College of Public Health embraces public health in all its disciplinary forms fostering impactful teaching scholarship and interdisciplinary collaborations within and outside the college. We engage in interprofessional education community and clinical practice impactful research and service learning approaching our work with cultural humility as we advocate for positive change and prepare leaders to address the most pressing issues of our time. Social justice has always driven our efforts and we understand that individual health outcomes are intricately tied to the larger systems we inhabit. The College consists of academic units in the public health disciplines health professions and the School of Social Work enrolling approximately 4200 students. Temples Center for the Advancement of Teaching provides outstanding programs and one-on-one mentoring and consultation to faculty and instructors to promote and support excellence in teaching.
