REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in criminal justice public administration behavioral sciences or a related field.
Minimum offive (5) yearsof progressively responsible experience in corrections institutional operations or offender management.
At leasttwo (2) yearsof supervisory or leadership experience in a correctional or public safety setting.
Demonstrated experience managing complex logistics or population movement systems.
Alternate combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in criminal justice public administration or a related field.
Experience with offender classification systems and institutional placement protocols.
Familiarity with community-based corrections including pre-release treatment and transitional housing programs.
Experience working with data systems for population tracking and forecasting.

TheMoveOps Bureau Chiefleads and oversees all aspects of offender movement institutional placement classification and community-based transitions within the correctional system. This includes managing secure transport facility assignments and strategic placement into pre-release centers treatment programs and transitional housing. The role also provides leadership and oversight of the offender classification process ensuring accurate custody level determinations and programmatic placements. The Bureau Chief ensures safe efficient and rehabilitative movement of individuals across the correctional continuum from intake to reentry.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and manage statewide offender transport operations.
Oversee institutional placement decisions in alignment with classification security medical and programmatic needs.
Lead a team of transport officers placement coordinators and support staff; ensure training compliance and performance standards are met.
Provide strategic oversight of the offender classification process ensuring accurate custody level determinations and programmatic placements aligned with departmental policy and public safety goals.
Supervise classification staff and ensure consistency fairness and legal compliance in all classification decisions across facilities.
Collaborate with facility wardens internal subject matter experts and external partners to optimize bed space and reduce bottlenecks.
Develop and implement policies and procedures related to movement operations ensuring alignment with legal mandates transport data and departmental goals.
Monitor population trends including daily county jail holds and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership on capacity planning and institutional flow.
Ensure safety accountability and transparency in all movement-related operations.
The MoveOps Bureau Chief reports to the Public Safety Division Chief.
