Staff Specialist Gastroenterologist

• 40 hours per fortnight (0.5 FTE)

Wangaratta (NHW). This position will primarily provide endoscopy outpatient consultative as well as inpatient consultative services at NHW. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead a Gastroenterology service and shape NHWs future service delivery of gastroenterology care to the community.

NHW is the major regional health service and specialist referral facility for Northeast Victoria. It serves a population of approximately 102000 performs over 6500 procedures a year and has over 19000 inpatient episodes and 30000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year. We have onsite radiology pathology and blood bank service. NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services an emergency department critical care unit (ICU HDU CCU) obstetrics and gynaecology paediatrics specialised aged care medical oncology services community rehabilitation inpatient community aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services.

The University of Melbournes Rural Clinical School has a node located in Wangaratta with medical students completing their clinical studies at NHW and additional medical students rotate from Melbourne teaching hospitals.

Key Selection Criteria

• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia or equivalent
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
• Appropriate experience in Gastroenterology.
• Applicants who have recently attained their FRACP and have a demonstrated interest in regional health care are encouraged to apply.
