Job Summary

1. Investigate geotechnical failures ranging from relatively small residential claims to large commercial/industrial losses (e.g. tunnel and dam failures)

2. Work with other professionals (engineers cost consultants etc) to handle multi-disciplinary assignments

3. Develop an understanding of the client sector (primarily insurance and legal) and their expectations

4. Attend client meetings to set scope and budget and present findings

5. Manage projects within time and budget and communicate scope change/schedule updates to clients 

6. Travel within Ontario and North America for site attendances

7. Attend industry events and conferences to drive business and build company/personal brand

8. Publish articles insights etc in conferences trade magazines LinkedIn etc.


Qualifications :

  1. An MS or PhD is geotechnical engineering
  2. Have practised in the consulting industry for 4-7 years with progressive experience in site investigation engineering analysis and design report writing as well as site inspection/testing/monitoring 
  3. Have a . in Canada
  4. Have experience with finite element modelling of geotechnical systems
  5. Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  6. Solid grounding in the fundamentals of soil mechanics and experience with how these principles apply in practice
  7. Ability to explain clearly complex engineering concepts to a non-engineer
  8. Ability to formulate opinions that are backed by evidence and stands up to scrutiny and confidently present those opinions to clients
  9. Attention to details and aptitude for critical thinking
  10. Strong sense of responsibility and owning ones actions
  11. Knack for publications innovations and business development
