The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to keeping children and young people free from violence and trauma wherever they live learn and play. Through our Care Prevention and Advocacy programs we fight for their right to be safe so their future is strong.

We also support Dollys Dream to help change the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying anxiety depression and youth suicide through education and direct support to young people and families.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer the Head of People & Culture (P&C) plays a pivotal role in shaping the Foundations approach to culture leadership learning wellbeing recruitment and performance ensuring people practices are trauma-informed inclusive compliant enabling the Foundation to fulfil its purpose.

This full-time 2-year contract role is formally based in South Melbourne. Flexible working arrangements are supported based on individual circumstances and delivering meaningful quality work.

The Head of People & Culture is responsible to:

  • Drive the implementation of a trauma-informed People & Culture strategy (launching 2026).
  • Lead and improve HR policies systems and processes.
  • Oversee Learning & Development OH&S and Wellbeing frameworks.
  • Lead recruitment campaigns that attract and retain skilled values-aligned talent.
  • Manage remuneration benefits and provide expert ER/IR advice.
  • Ensure HR systems deliver accurate real-time insights.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing People & Culture team.
  • Contribute actively to the Senior Leadership Team.

ABOUT YOU

Were seeking a trusted people-focused leader with strong HR expertise and a passion for building inclusive high-performing workplaces someone who communicates with confidence thinks strategically and inspires others to deliver meaningful outcomes.

You will have:

  • Senior HR experience leading a high-performing teams (for-purpose sector experience is desirable).
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or an associated discipline (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of HR/IR/ER legislation (SCHADS knowledge desirable)
  • Experience designing and embedding People & Culture strategies aligned to values and purpose.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence coach and support others.
