Job Summary: The Process Engineer serves as a key link between Design Engineering Manufacturing and Quality ensuring that products meet customer and Spectrum Control specifications while driving continuous improvement across production processes. This role provides technical guidance process development and root-cause analysis to support high-reliability manufacturing operations. The Process Engineer also serves as a technical resource for both internal and external customers promoting excellence in process control product quality and safety.
Essential Job Functions
- Collaborate with manufacturing quality and design teams to evaluate and optimize production methods tooling and workflows for RF and high-reliability electronic assemblies.
- Support production teams by clarifying process parameters interpreting work instructions and test plans and training operators on new equipment or procedures.
- Develop document and continuously improve assembly and inspection processes ensuring repeatability and compliance with engineering and quality standards.
- Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other data analysis tools to evaluate current performance identify trends and verify effectiveness of process changes.
- Investigate production lot failures customer returns and nonconformances; recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Establish and maintain process documentation including travelers schematics work instructions and control plans.
- Evaluate and qualify new materials suppliers and equipment through defined validation and qualification procedures.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews to ensure efficient reliable production processes for new product introductions.
- Conduct and document root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities to address deviations from quality standards.
- Support internal audits and compliance with AS9100 MIL and customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure all manufacturing procedures materials and equipment prioritize employee and product safety.
- Engage in customer and supplier interactions to resolve technical quality issues as required.
- Maintain proficiency in soldering processes applicable standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 35 years of process or manufacturing engineering experience in an electronics RF or aerospace/defense environment.
- Demonstrated experience in process development SPC and failure analysis.
- Working knowledge of MIL specifications aerospace quality systems and manufacturing standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with statistical or analytical software (e.g. Minitab).
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills including understanding of probability statistics geometry and trigonometry.
- Experience interpreting and applying engineering drawings specifications and industry codes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative manufacturing setting.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to defense contract requirements.
