Therapy Austin is a strong and inclusive community seeking a compassionate self-motivated and collaborative Counseling Graduate Intern to provide our clients with high-quality clinical care.


Graduate Student Interns carry assigned caseloads of 10-14 clients per week. They are self-motivated and collaborative counseling practitioners with a strong desire to develop clinical skills. Counseling Interns are responsible for providing phone intake calls conducting mental health evaluations and working with their clinical supervisor to develop treatment plans in a relational agency-based setting. This is an unpaid graduate-level internship position.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Adhere to all Policies and Procedures as outlined in Agency documents including but not limited to the Employee Handbook Intern Policy and Procedure Manual Intern-Site Agreement and Client Contract
  • Attend scheduled weekly meetings and seminars.
  • Respond to communications from leadership staff in a timely manner
  • Accept new client requests for services until your agreed upon Caseload Allotment is achieved
  • Conduct intake calls with scheduled clients and refer out as appropriate under agency guidelines
  • Conduct a thorough bio-psycho-social assessment with each new client during the initial appointment to ensure adequate level-of-care and fit for services.
  • Collaborate with clinical supervisor to develop an agreed-upon treatment plan with each client and encourage clients to take an active part in their own treatment
  • Provide ongoing short-term mental health treatment
  • Keep accurate and detailed written treatment and financial transaction records for each client
  • Maintain data in agency systems in a timely manner
  • Use supervision and consultation to provide referrals to clients as needed
  • Keep clinical supervisor apprised of challenging/at-risk clients and clinical issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality of client records
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with state and federal laws including HIPAA compliance and related Agency policy and procedures

Job Requirements

  • Attend and successfully complete all scheduled New Intern training sessions
  • Attend all scheduled consultation and seminar meetings
  • Participate in required informal or formal coaching sessions meetings or training
  • Minimum time commitment: 120 direct client hours and 180 indirect hours equal to 300 hours per semester


Qualifications


  • In a Masters degree program and approved by program for internship
