An established Independent School in Peterborough is recruiting a committed Year 1 Teacher to join its KS1 phase on a Full-Time basis from January 2026 start. The successful Year 1 Teacher will be invited to planning sessions prior to the January 2026 start attend induction sessions during the January 2026 start period and take up classroom duties from the January 2026 start. School & role summary for the Year 1 Teacher
This Independent School provides a nurturing environment where the Year 1 Teacher will teach in purpose-built classrooms and benefit from strong adult-to-pupil ratios. The Year 1 Teacher will design a creative knowledge-rich curriculum tailored to young learners. From the January 2026 start the Year 1 Teacher will be supported by a mentor access targeted CPD and lead phonics and early reading programmes as the Year 1 Teacher. The appointment is Full-Time; the Full-Time Year 1 Teacher will enjoy protected planning time and supportive leadership around the January 2026 start.

Key responsibilities (Year 1 Teacher)

• As Year 1 Teacher plan and deliver high-quality phonics reading writing and number lessons.
• The Year 1 Teacher will assess progress run targeted interventions and liaise with families.
• The Year 1 Teacher will contribute to enrichment activities and whole-school events.
• The Year 1 Teacher will lead transition work in the weeks around the January 2026 start.

Person specification Year 1 Teacher
We seek a reflective Year 1 Teacher with QTS (or equivalent) strong KS1 practice and excellent communication. The Year 1 Teacher will be confident in phonics delivery and formative assessment. The successful Year 1 Teacher will be ready to attend planning ahead of the January 2026 start to participate in induction during the January 2026 start and to teach as a Full-Time Year 1 Teacher from the January 2026 start.
