The department is responsible for NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) development deployment and commercialization for Rakuten Mobile. This involves overcoming various challenges such as the proposal of RAN solutions for flying LEO satellites which cause significant delay and Doppler shift. Additionally it requires proposing deployment solutions by enabling NTN to coexist with terrestrial telecom networks and other networks operating in adjacent spectrum. The organization seeks talented individuals who can take on and enjoy these challenges.

Job Duties

In this role the individual will have all or part of the following responsibilities:

NTN RAN Solution Development:Deeply understanding RAN RF and propagation models to contribute to or lead NTN RAN solutions. This specifically includes determining what kinds of services/features NTN should and should not provide.
Vendor Collaboration:Collaborating with the TN RAN team to follow the progress of RAN vendors and ensure timely delivery.
Spectrum Efficiency:Proposing coexistence solutions between TN and NTN to improve spectrum efficiency.
E2E Integration:Collaborating with Core OSS BSS and security teams to ensure smooth and successful end-to-end integration.
Field Testing:Participating in or leading field tests creating test scenarios collecting and analyzing data and generating test reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Deep knowledge in the radio/wireless communication field (3 years of experience in related field or technical background equivalent to such experience)
Excellent communication skills in Japanese

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid understanding the link budget and PHY of the current cellular networks including 5G and LTE
Familiar with radio propagation models antenna patterns
Holds radio operator license of Japan certified as Chief Telecommunications Engineer
Familiar with the radio propagation related simulation tools
Familiar with standard like ITU-R 3GPP etc.
Familiar with Japanese Radio regulations
