About the Role

We are seeking skilled and experiencedDisability Support Workers to join ourSupported Independent Living (SIL) will support people with disability living in shared housing providing various supports including personal care and daily living.

The people you will be supporting will be accessing our respite services and require a range of support and so successful candidates should be experienced and confident in working within a varied environment which may include behaviours of concern high medical needs high intensity daily personal activities and heavy hoisting and manual handling.

The successful candidate must be able to commit a variety of casual shifts in Bexley andKensingtonincluding short 3.5 or 4 hours shifts active nights and sleepover shifts across a 7 day roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans
  • Provide assistance with High Intensity daily personal activities
  • Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities
  • Maintain thorough record keeping
  • Build positive relationships with clients families and colleagues
  • Advocate for client choice and control

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with people with disability
  • Previous experience working behaviours of concern
  • Prior experience working with high medical needs
  • Confidence in driving a wheelchair van
  • Manual Handling and Hoisting experience
  • An unrestricted Australian drivers licence
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
