Job Summary

Job Title: Assistant Distribution Center Manager

Location:AuroraCO

Pay:70k-85k DOE

Summary:
Reporting to the Distribution Center (DC) Manager the Assistant DC Manager supports and helps oversee the overall performance of the distribution center. This role is responsible for assisting in the management of all daily operations including labor scheduling inventory control equipment management safety housekeeping and operational efficiency. The Assistant DC Manager plays a key role in ensuring a safe productive and cost-effective operation while supporting initiatives for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Planning

  • Assist in planning and coordinating all distribution center functions including receiving storing shipping returns processing inventory control and maintenance.

  • Support long-term labor planning and scheduling based on forecasts and operational needs.

Communication & Coordination

  • Collaborate with supervisors department heads and headquarters to align operational goals and ensure smooth communication across all areas.

Facility Layout & Space Utilization

  • Assist in developing and maintaining an effective space utilization plan using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance workflow and efficiency.

Labor & Team Management

  • Support the supervision of warehouse staff including hiring training and performance management.

  • Promote employee development and maintain a safe motivating work environment.

  • Participate in evaluations coaching and corrective action processes as needed.

Equipment Management

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment such as forklifts pallet jacks and other material handling tools.

  • Monitor equipment conditions and ensure availability aligns with business needs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce workplace safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

  • Address work-related injuries immediately and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Housekeeping & Facility Standards

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse restrooms and break areas.

  • Ensure proper handling of damaged goods and compliance with pest control and sanitation regulations.

Customer Service Support

  • Work professionally with customers and vendors.

  • Respond promptly to customer service issues and ensure high service standards are maintained.

Inventory Management

  • Ensure accurate inventory tracking and storage standards are met.

  • Maintain organized product storage within defined parameters and support ongoing cycle counts or audits.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Ensure orders are picked packed and shipped efficiently within service and cost expectations.

  • Assist in managing receiving processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of inbound goods.

Traffic & Dock Management

  • Oversee inbound and outbound traffic flow to ensure compliance with safety cost and security standards.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Ensure the timely preparation processing and distribution of operational reports and records.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics Business Operations Management or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations including supervisory experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations safety regulations and inventory control systems.

  • Proficiency with warehouse and office software systems.

  • Capable of stepping into the DC Manager role as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift carry and move materials as needed.

  • Must be able to operate or learn to operate standard warehouse equipment.
