Position Summary
Nelson University American Indian College seeks a dedicated and organized Student Development Coordinator to support the Office of Student Development. This role plays a vital part in enhancing student success by managing daily administrative operations curating engaging social media content and maintaining our online presence. As a key team member you will contribute to fostering a supportive environment that honors our mission students faculty and staff.
This part-time position offers flexibility in scheduling to accommodate work-life balance making it ideal for individuals passionate about higher education and community impact.
Major Responsibilities
Administrative Support: Handle routine office tasks including scheduling meetings managing calendars preparing correspondence filing documents and coordinating travel arrangements for the Vice President and team.
Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing student development events workshops and cultural programs including logistics registrations and follow-up communications.
Social Media Management: Create and schedule compelling social media posts across platforms (e.g. Instagram Facebook Twitter/X) to highlight student achievements campus events and cultural initiatives; monitor engagement and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
Website Maintenance: Update and manage content on the Student Development section of the university website ensuring accuracy accessibility and alignment with branding guidelines; collaborate with IT as needed for technical support.
General Duties: Provide exceptional customer service to students faculty and external partners; support special projects as assigned; and promote a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Required:
Must be an openly committed Born Again Christian living a Spirit-filled life.
Associates degree or equivalent experience in administration communications or a related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative or office support experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook) and Google Workspace.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g. Canva Hootsuite).
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
Experience in higher education or non-profit settings.
Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
Knowledge of graphic design basics for social media visuals.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
