POSITION DETAILS AND DUTIES:
FULL-TIME POSITION: EIGHT (8) HOURS PER DAY; ELEVEN (11) MONTHS PER YEAR.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The job of Speech/Language Pathology Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing appropriate speech therapy for students who have been identified with communication disorders to meet the individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and in collaboration with Speech and Language Pathologist; screening students for functional developmental levels in pre-language and language skills and oral motor control; and screening for possible communication challenges that would impact the students learning.
This job reports to the assigned Administrator.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- High School Diploma (or GED equivalent).
- Speech and Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board (SLPAB).Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certificate from an agency authorized to issue a current valid and official certification.
- As part of the certification process the District may require registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California.
- Any other combination of education training and experience which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills knowledge or abilities may be considered.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Class C Drivers license & availability of private transportation.
- Must maintain current Speech and Language Pathology registration throughout employment in this position.
- Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by the American Red Cross or any agency authorized by the American Red Cross.
- Valid First Aid certification issued by the American Red Cross or any agency authorized by the American Red Cross.
- Employees must maintain up-to-date certifications in CPR and First Aid during employment.
- Some positions may require the ability to read write and speak Spanish fluently.
- Some positions may require sign language skills.
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- A BA in Speech Pathology or a related field.
- Six (6) months of school-based experience working with individuals with speech and language disabilities in a structured environment which can include field work experience (paid or voluntary) involves learning the job responsibilities and workplace behaviors of the speech-language pathology assistant.
