Title: Accounting-Payroll Clerk
Report To: AP/AR Supervisor-Payroll/Benefits Supervisor
Length of Contract:260 Days 12 Months

Qualifications:
- Minimum requirements of High School diploma or equivalent associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in accounting payroll and benefits. School experience preferred.
- High degree of proficiency in office procedures and protocols.
- Proficient in standard office equipment and software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Financial Systems Software Google Workspace).
- High proficiency (Intermediate to Advanced) in spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Currently possess or have the ability to become certified as a Business Office Specialist through Michigan School Business Officials.
- Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid drivers license.
General Description:The role of the Accounting-Payroll Clerk is to provide quality services to all departments and work effectively with all constituents of the DIISD and Business Service Consortium partners. The Accounting-Payroll Clerk will perform end to end payroll processing for assigned district(s) and/or perform a variety of clerical accounting duties.
Essential Functions:
- Accounting Functions:
- Completes monthly transfers in the finance and banking systems.
- Enters received revenues throughout the month.
- Enter check ACh and/or Auto payments into the financial system.
- Complete journal entries as needed.
- Assists with all month end reconciliation processes.
- Complete various State and Federal reports including but not limited to: Monthly sales and withholding tax annual sales tax return quarterly Michigan Administrative Outreach Program (MIAOP) Reports Annual 1099s and System for Award Management (SAM).
- Assist with annual financial statement audit preparation.
- Update property tax allocation worksheet.
- Assist with completion of internal control reviews of buildings and departments.
- Assists with maintenance of fixed asset spreadsheet monthly upon review of checks and purchase card payments.
- Other accounting duties as needed and assigned.
- Payroll Functions:
- Accurately pay all contracted and hourly employees according to LEA or Business Service Consortium (BSC) policy.
- Submit and balance all payroll and insurance reports.
- Provide insurance information to management and employees.
- Transmit/Pay all necessary payroll deductions and withholdings.
- Ensure adequate cross-training accross staff through alternating duties once a year with a payroll clerk from another district within the BSC.
- Provide support to the LEAs relating to your job duties.
- Maintain orderly payroll/insurance/personnel files.
- Maintain confidentiality for LEA employees and the BSC.
- Attend workshops pertaining to your job as directed.
- Process all additional Federal and State payroll requirements.
- Prepare electronic data for direct deposit.
- Responsible for ORS and any other required reporting.
- Prepare and run payroll check run(s) in accordance with districts payroll schedules.
- Other payroll duties as needed and assigned.
- Provide Directors of Finance with requested payroll information
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstrating how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
- Adhere to DIISD Code of Ethics.
- Able to effectively take direction as well as work independently and as a member of a team.
- Able to work and communicate effectively with students parents staff schools and community constituents. Must have regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration
- Follow all policies or agreements of the BSC
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluid and tissue.
- With reimbursement may be required to use personal vehicle to perform job related functions.
